The Orewa Beach Series has swim distances to suit all ages and abilities. New to open water swimming or want to add some variation to doing laps in the pool? Commit to the Orewa Beach Series and make it happen this summer.
Ocean Swim Options
- 250m Junior Swim (12yrs and under)
- 500m Ocean Swim
- 1000m Ocean Swim
- 1500m Ocean Swim
- 2000m Ocean Swim
Whether you’re a competitive swimmer or simply out for some social, physical activity, come along and swim at your own pace. A timing transponder will record your time each week to mark your progress throughout the season.
Swimming is one of the most popular disciplines at the Orewa Beach Series. All swim events are patrolled by Surf Life Saving NZ lifeguards, ensuring you’re in a safe environment at all times.
Event Safety and Rules
- Event Rules and Safety Guidelines can be found HERE and at the event base each week
- Snorkels, flippers, fins and other swimming aids are not permitted
- Swimmers will be deducted series points or disqualified if found to be swimming over the top of or pulling on other swimmers.
Safety Briefing Times and Locations
For your safety it is compulsory for all participants to attend their event briefing each week.
- Junior Events – Orewa Beach Reserve (south of the Surf Club) at 5.45pm
- Adult Events – Orewa Beach Reserve (south of the Surf Club) at 6.20pm
Terms & Conditions and Waiver
It is compulsory for all participants to read and accept our Terms & Conditions and Waiver. These will be included in your online entry, but can also be found HERE.

It is important that participants check their course map on the event base info board as adult courses will be alternated at random each week.
Courses will not be explained in the Event Safety Briefings so please make sure you are familiar with your course before your event. If you are unsure please ask an Orewa Beach Series volunteer before your safety briefing.
